I knew a girl in college who came from Wonewoc, and she couldn't pronounce it right (one-ee-walk). So she just reversed it and called it Cowenow (cow-ee-now).

And for the non-Wisconsinners here, Butte des Morts is French for Butte of the Dead - it has nothing to do with butts.

Well, at least she did not live in Regina, SK(?) Decorum prevents me from posting the pronunciation, but it would have made a paralell plot for a Seinfeld episode.

and I think that one is pronounced a itsy bitsy differently isn't it Shay-boy-gan versus shi' boygan ???
