When they just arbitrarily decide to pull a date out of thin air to use as a year end.

What do you mean they arbitrarily changed the year-end?

That doesn't sound right unless they are doing a change in accounting principles. Is this work or your personal stuff?

not change it mid year or anything like that.

Just usea different year end.

I should say use a fiscal year end that differs from the calendar year end.

It makes my head hurt....

And, I'm good with it. The dudes on loan committe are teh suck at it. You would think that when you reach executive VP of a large commercial bank you would have a handle on the concept of a fiscal YE in August or February. Confused

OK. Well, now I get it. What accounting software package do you use? It shouldn't be that much of a pain...(accounting sucks, said the accountant).

I don't use accounting software as I am a credit analyst. I pick apart what you put together and do year over year comparisons of the financials.

And then write reports based on those comparisons.
