eeeeeeek, a week from sunday is Disney marathon and I hurt/twisted/strained (I don't know it just really hurts when I run) my knee. I think it is muscular as it is tender to touch just above the knee on the thigh.

Just stinks when you train for 13 weeks with all the long runs going well and then this happens............moderate running, lots of advil, stretching, and ice.........and positive thoughts.

Hopefully it will improve, or it will be a very painful 26.2 for me.

RICE and lots of it.

You know the training is in the bag, just sit tight. Enjoy a little "off" time.

I always get some phantom pains prior to my races. My foot hurts, my knee is tweeked, my ankle is twisted. It all worlks out in the end. Mr. Green

Good luck in Disney. Last year a firend of mine ran the half and I drove all the way up to see her and could not find a parking spot. I had to drive all the way home without seeing her.

Sheldon

BTW, house to mouse is 2.5 hours of driving.

Oh no!!! Sad Shocked Sad Shocked Sad Mad
Take the time off and baby yourself to death until your race. Like Sheldon said, you have the training in the bag. Let's hope you can get yourself feeling better before next weekend.

I'll be thinking of you and sending you good vibes right now.

I know this has to be killing you.

I think I am. I'm very nervous. I'm trying hard to taper and take it easy. I've had a few pains in my right shin and have cut the speed down to eleviate that until the RnR is over with. I feel like I should be doing more and putting more miles in, but fear I would get injured.

I'm going to learn so much about myself, my endurance level, how I train/have trained, my prowess and my mental strength in a few short days. Shocked

Now, if only I could figure out how to get my music downloads to load on my MP3 player. It's taken me this entire week to figure out what I did or am not doing to get this thing to work. I have all the tunes set and cannot get it to work. I'm cursed! Mad

Good luck to you. I will be thinking of you and everyone at Disney. Y'all will be on the back stretch as I start out.

Rest up my friend!

Take your time, relax, put the leg on ice and lots of it. Keep it rested. You've trained hard enough you should do very well even with a few days off. (I did OK with about 5 days of no running prior to my half)

What Sheldon said. I know some of y'all die hards scoff at RW, but I remember reading an article about this a couple years ago before they got really cheezy, I think it was called the Beast Within or something like that......about how people get all tweaky-painy right before a big race, be it a marathon or just their first shot at a higher distance, and all the mental stuff that happens. Hopefully that's all this is....if I can find a link to it I'll post it for you.

Good luck and mucho positive thoughts coming up from PA for you....and you too Marcie!!!!
