Can I get a wireless card for my desktop? My new neighbor has wireless internet and my new roommate has a card for her laptop and is stealing internet from them. Can we keep the charade up and get a card for my desktop? Is this possible? help a broke girl out. If hte answer is no or I shouldn't, its okay, ATT has internet for $12.99 these days....

If you've got an available PCMCIA slot, yes.

Dilemma?
Let's see....you first describe this thing as stealing. Then, it's a charade.
So, what part of stealing is okay?
But, hey! You could consider it a party-line connection!

Your neighbor will probably at some point get shut off her own network because too many people are using it (normally access is for 4 computers at once). and then she will passord protect it and the gig will be up.
$12.99 just buy it.

If you live in an apartment complex, you should easily be able to "war drive" and find an unsecure connection.

PCMCIA slot/and or card are for laptops. For a desktop you would either buy a PCI wireless card that you would have to open the machine up and install, or you could buy a USB wireless adapter.
Now, that said, it is unethical and illegal to use someone's connection without their consent. However, on the occasion I have been away from home and was able to pick up a signal I have used a random connection briefly to check email, or get directions, check bank account, quick on and off. I would not feel right using a neighbor's without their knowledge on a full time basis.
Some may argue that if someone is not savvy enough to protect themselves they get what they deserve. The arguments go on and on and on.
It's stealing though, you decide.
