i am!
i bought some good gifts for people, and i'm looking forward to a couple of christmas parties, plastic tobogganing, video games, outdoor hockey and skating at the parks. oh and i have to make christmas cookies too.
oh and my grandma is coming in too
and just for good measure i have some stuff on ebay coming in that i've been after for months, AND i won't be in school for two whole weeks.

christmas shopping is like your job. it's not work if you enjoy it.
i started shopping in november to go looking for cool stuff for people. nevermind the shopping i got done for myself at the same time.
i don't even really have a christmas list this year, and i'm like "here's some stuff if you feel compelled to buy me anything", but other then that?
what fun is christmas if you're just gonna have fun for one day and be mad at the rest (assuming your not the one cooking dinner, at which point you might get to enjoy one day of it next year).
i have a few last minute items to pick up (to polish off the load), and all these damned people are killing me. i want to go to walmart to look for my toys and im' like "woah, nice line up." too crazy for me.

no - This year's been a little tougher than most. I am thankful that my crap sandwich isn't as bad as some other have though.
*props to thegman for the crap sandwich post. I think about/use that one every day.

I'm such a minimalist, I find little to get excited about with the commercial aspect of Christmas. For me, I find joy in studying the "reason for the season". But really, that's a 52-wk a year proposition. So, mostly I'll enjoy the extra days off with my boys and a chance to visit with other family.

that counts! getting excited for Christmas doesn't mean presents, it's everything else. i like the holiday itself, if anything i think it's just that time of year that everyone buys each other presents because it's fun. but i like the food and being with people, and actually having the time to get outside and enjoy myself and others! (i got a good PennyArcade to post for that...)
my parents told me after they got back from a business trip on US thanksgivin' weekend to the states, that you guys seem to prefer thanksgiving vs. christmas.
a lot of it has to do with everything being big (massive treelots with inflatable santas) and commercial and kinda forced on you...
any truth to that?
what does everybody else like to do for christmas?

I am excited about the holidays. I was uncertain what they would be like for me this year. Christmas is my absolutely favorite time of year. Most of you know that I have made some huge changes in my life since last Christmas. I fully expected to be depressed about the holidays, but I find that although it is different, it is still exciting. I never pinned all my hopes on the actual day, as a matter of fact, Christmas day has always been somewhat of a "let-down". Not in a disappointing way, but in the sense that I do so much work in December preparing music and presenting school programs, chorus concerts, and all that church music; it all culminates on Christmas Eve, so on Christmas Day I have this huge feeling of relief. The season is more important than the day. I am not buying a lot of presents for people. I am not doing a lot of baking or cooking. I am reaching out to others, thanking them for their friendship this year. That includes my Riff Raff friends, who have been absolutely wonderful to me.
The New Year promises to be exciting and scary. Some things are in the works that will cause a lot of stress. I'm not exactly looking forward to going through with those things, but they have to be done for a number of reasons, mostly the well-being of my kids. I thank you in advance for your support.

No for me.
I have a huge crap sandwich on my plate. I try to keep things in perspective...however sometimes it's hard.
I only look forward to seeing my children have a joyous time. Otherwise I could skip the entire thing myself.

Now that I have a paycheck to actually do something with, I am getting better about the excitement.
I'm actually more excited that ma man is coming up on Christmas Eve than the whole Christmas THING.

I love the holiday season. I echo jrjo's sentiments about the commercial aspect, it's not my favorite, but I do love the whole season. It's my favorite time of the year.

I, too, have to thank gman for this--I think about it every day, as well. I think about my crap sandwiches--and that I am feasting on gourmet food compared to other, very less fortunate--through no fault of their own, people.
