my vote is for any meeting in this office, but thats just me.

I am off to sit bored in a meeting now that will surely start off with no agenda or leader, side track to "who does your nails? well my guy just quit and..." deteriorate to some petty fight over power that none of us has, then after about 2 hours of debating how things were done in '89 (aka, current) v. what ideally should be done, settle to remain 'status quo'. Confused

staff meetings are quite possibly the largest waste of educational spending imaginable.

Put out all announcements through e-mail, invite anyone with questions to come to the office and discuss it. Quit putting all of us through the torment of sitting there watching the clock once a week.

I think staff meetings are the worst waste of time ever! For example, I'm supposed to have a two hour field training officer's meeting this evening. I told the lieutenant I wouldn't be available. Mostly because I already had to spend two hours of my day off in a deposition this morning. He said, "No problem, just get with your sergeant Thursday and he will fill you in." So my question is, if my sergeant can fill me in on the meeting in 15 minutes, why do we need a two hour meeting to begin with? In all of my previous jobs, I have never seen anything productive come from a staff meeting.

I go to weekly "update" meetings that last from an hour to 2 hours. We reivew every frickin' project on everyones list. If we'd only review critical projects, ones that are experiencing problems, etc. it might actually be a productive meeting. Instead, it's a battle to stay conscious and a talent contest to see who is best at flipping off a fellow cow-orker w/o getting caught by a manager.

No longer being subjected to meetings, in the office or out of it, I still find RR'ing to be counterproductive. For instance, it's going on 10:00 p.m. and I still haven't read the morning paper. Of course, I got lots of news right here...thank you, million dollar bill story. Outfreakingstanding. At least I did find fifteen minutes earlier to watch the part of The Apprentice where Odorosa got fired. Just as enjoyable a week later.

No, I think that I've got to apply myself...get the paper read first, along with the coffee. Do some small bit of housework. After that, maybe I can treat myself to this place.

Nah. I'll just drink the coffee right here.
