just got a message that my wife's car passed inspection and didn't need any work at all! That's not how things generally go with our car inspections. so the money I thought we'd spend on repairs can actually pay bills this week.

State Inspections suck.
i just paid $72 to have my husband's brand new Maxima inspected.....as if (they changed the oil too)
they invariably find something wrong with my van every single year. my inspection this year cost $270 cuz they weren't letting me leave without new tires.....
how do some of the trash buggies out there pass the inspection??? i think there's some hooey going on.

definitley hooey happening. depends on where you take the car for inspection. lots of places slap the sticker on and that's it. others find something wrong so they can soak you for a repair.
And the emissions inspection! how unfair is that one? it's a law, but not for the entire state.....

Inspections are obviously a state law. We have imissions tests here, but no inspections. It shows in some of the cars driving around.

emissions=state tax on drivers
why does a brand new car need emissions inspection? i can maybe see there being an age limit --anything older than 5 years.

We have only emissions tests as well. In California, new cars are tested every other year (but I'll admit I don't know what constitutes a "new" car), then they have to be tested every year. I guess they just want to make sure that the catalytic converters are working properly on the new cars.

that's fine, but much of the pollution in this part of PA wafts over from Ohio. the problem with the emissions testing is that this is a STATE law, but only applies to certain residents, depending on the county in which they live. My in-laws live 3 miles from us, but they don't have to have the emissions inspection.

I'll blow some of our poison Westmoreland county air your way too, how's that?
Butler county is every bit as developed as Westmoreland, how do you guys get out of the emissions?

I dread getting our cars annual inspections. Both cars this year cost a over a 1000 bux each.
Looking to get a new one in the fall.

Same here. my county is considered rural and farmland thus no emission testing.
