I would distinguish between the ones who met their untimely demise through circumstances beyond their control (Stevie Ray Vaughn, to wit) from the ones who offed themselves out of substance abuse problems.

It's hard to get all wistful over someone choking to death on their own drug induced puke.

maybe janis joplin....

altho i'd have hated to see her doing 10-10 220 commercials or hearing Bobby McGee being played on some stupid Cadillac commercial

she was the original. original what i do not know, but she was so out there.

who the hell was that little wimp kid - country singer (and i don't listen to much country) - that sang that sappyassed song that seemed to be a large hit. billly something or other. what an annoyance... i'd like to hear him sing it now. not really. that's all i could think of to say.

I'm ashamed to hear led zep doing cadillac commercials... and bob seger doing chevy commercials ain't right either.

i have to totally agree with EL here. i like to believe Janis and Morrison accidentally overdosed themselves - like, whoops, i killed myself. Kurt Cobain, on the other hand, invalidated anything and everthing he ever did when he stuck that shotgun in his mouth.

No difference in my book... overdose of powder, pills or pellets, they're all responsible for checking themselves out early.
