In elkid's absence, I'll start the ball rolling.....although I hope she pops in to contribute too....
I learned:
---I have another kindred spirit out there and I can't wait til she comes back for a visit
---the taste of bratwurst makes me "homesick" -- I miss Madison!
---there's a mall in my area that I didn't know about before yesterday
---put a couple thirty-something wimmins into a mall and they are instantly transformed into 15 year olds
---getting a passport is a pain in the a.....
---there is nothing quite as rewarding as freshly painted walls
---I'm not the only one who thinks men are WHACKED!
Now. You. Go.

I learned that replacing the rear differential in my truck is going to be more expensive and time consuming than I first estimated.

--that this economy is still in the sh!tter.
--that my wife is still my best friend.
--that there are still good people out there.
--that Ted Kennedy is still an evil drunken idiot who has killed more people with his car than I have with all my guns combined.

I'll play! I'll play!
-I learned that you simply can't 'laugh away' spilt hot coffee on your lap.
-That having a new puppy and a sick wife in the house may be what it kinda feels like raising a kid (i said 'kinda'! back off parents!)
-That putting my seatbelt on in a plane really doesn't make me feel any safer?
-That I miss being in a city where there's a ton to do and see
-I miss my old friends and need to work on restoring these relationships (which will start tonight as I have invited them over for a cookout and bonfire).
and finally...
-nice people shouldn't say mean things.

Oooh,, trust me, I am jealous! But since you know I have come to love this weekly feature, I wanted to make sure your tradition was carried on in a manner appropriate to that which we were accustomed. Glad to see you're having a fubby time and chillin' too....

this week i learned that:
birth control pills are not reimburseable by my insurance co. --WTF?--
shopping for shoes with a 10 y.o. girl is not in any way, shape or form FUN.
unplugging my modem and connecting it again will help me get online when the Comcast server is having its daily hissy fit.
school nurses are God's way of showing this skeptic that there truly are angels among us. no one appreciates a school nurse like i do.

Hmm. I've learned a few things this week.
- our middle-school bus driver is a dink, and knows less about Charlotte traffic than I do.
- Libby is NOT a 6am kind of kid. She is, however, adjusting.
- kids DO grow up so fast. My oldest is in middle school and it just does not seem possible.
- I wear it well. 33 and still getting carded for cigs.
- I miss my husband when he's out of town. Thought I'd love the time away, but I was beside myself for 4 days.
- I can survive on less sleep than I thought possible.
- Chocolate malt frappacinos are too sweet, even for me.
- Never get a Venti size of a drink you've never tried. See above.
- I'm going to start babysitting a 5yo and 4mo in the evenings for $200/week! Yahoo!
- I must create a new user for the computer for the kids and make sure they can only visit certain websites. I'm getting killed by spyware and porn! (Libby is 11 and knows how to find things she is looking for, problem is that Beyonce.com (or whatever she is searching for) may not be about the singer at all, but BAD things...)
- finally, it's ok to change the height of the mower, just put the screws on tight enough so the wheel doesn't come off while you are mowing and you have to hunt all over the place for the bolt and wing nut.
You know, I do keep track of what the kids do on the puter, but all it takes is a phone call to drag me away from the room, and Libby deciding she needs to find lyrics or something... We're setting up the new profile today, and will probably be downloading some sort of rating system as well. There's entirely too much information out there that I don't think my middle-schooler (and also grade-schooler) needs to see.

yeah, that's just wrong about the bcp's. We've been lucky in that respect. They also covered my IUD, and that visit was a hefty one. Some ins. co's must have realized that it's cheaper for drugs and devices than pregnancies & births.
Amen on shopping... Took Libby last week to get clothes and shoes, and I'm going to get a root canal next year instead, let someone else take her!! HA!
