Posted: 10/31/03 - 11:54 Post subject: what have you learned THIS week?
I've learned:
- my eyes are steadily improving and the surgery was one of the best investment I've made in myself
- do enough long runs and 22M feels good
- the thought of tapering scares me more than a marathon because I'll have to cut back on running
- someone in ME loves me
- I'm continually amazed how someone so different from me politically, theologically, familially, and civilly can think, react, and believe so much like me
Now. You. Go!

I've learned:
- I actually can follow thru on a promise to mail something.
- I get mad at the way the SO's of some people treat them.
- My son can be a bully. But when he's called on it and given a different outlook, becomes his victim's staunchest protector.
- I'm not going to be sorry to leave my current apartment.
- Purple and black striped tights change your whole personality.

I think I'll stick with my current personality, thank you.
I've learned
-My strengths professor is the most boring man alive
-Crazy Charlie in the ME workshops is just that
-Running after being sick is so rewarding
-I can get up at 5:30 in the morning and enjoy it

I've learned:
-that many of you Riffraffers own your own steam vac's to clean your carpets
-Little Nolefan 3 has learned how to say, "What the hec!" and it is now his favorite thing to say
-that Little Nolefan 3 is a smart a$$ at his young age of 2...and can easily change this phrase to "What the..." when Mommy Nole gives him the look. And he smiles the entire time saying it. I have my work cut out for me. He'll put himself in his own timeout just to say it.
-that I love going outside again now that it has started to cool off
-that it takes forever to go through a 4 year old's room & clean it out
-that it is best to wait until the last minute to buy Halloween candy. Otherwise it would be gone within a day

That every time I see "what have you learned THIS week?" I realize another week has gone screaming by at the speed of light, and I'll be dead soon.

I've learned:
- With the son and dog no longer here, the nights when my wife works make for a very quiet house. Not lonely, just quiet.
- I can get PO'd when provoked (but I still don't like doing so).
- Fall has had more color to it this year than I thought it would.
- Beef stew is definitely a meal for the season.

I've learned:
-- that no matter how high your IQ or your GPA is, you can still be a complete f-kup when it really counts
-- that the need to control carries with it the power to destroy
-- that as much as I hate Philly, the sight of that skyline from the airplane window made me realize there's no place like home
-- that sometimes it takes hitting bottom to make you see that striving to be perfect is pointless
-- that an ED never really goes away, no matter how long you've been in recovery
-- that my friends are my family and without them I'd truly be lost, especially two of them!
-- that I need a little more time before I come out of hiding but I do so love this thread--I'll see you guys soon
Thanks Lauri---this week I really needed this thread more than you know.

That and that I was reminded that I'm the worst procrastinator in the history of the world.

-that even tho' i never had a birth sister, i've learned the meaning of sisterhood thru most excellent friends who are better than the real thing.
-that teaching 24 4th and 5th graders the word of God is daunting. in fact, it scares the living daylights out of me. teachers=special peeps
-my son can officially hold his own in 10th grade Alegebra after a long road
-dark chocolate is the only kind of chocolate
-being resentful is like drinking poison and then waiting for everyone else to die.
-i gotta have friends or my boat don't float.
