Posted: 10/17/03 - 08:50 Post subject: what have you learned THIS week?
I've learned:
- F/T work + 3 classes + marathon training = one tired kid
- based on customer feedback, I am very good at my job
- it's going to be an AWESOME World Series
- it's not a good idea to eat only half your recommended # of calories longterm, as you will lose 10 pounds in a week
- nothing beats having a friend who's known you since The Bad Days tell you you look good.
Now. You. Go.

I learned Elkid is a wimp if she can't handle working FT/school/marathon training, and racing on weekends without being tired.
I fully embrace my wimphood.
That I have the first 2 chapters of my thesis due next week and have yet to type a word. Love working under pressure.
That as of today, the first semester of school is half way over!!!

Being part of the whole marathon atmosphere (even if only on a relay team) is pretty cool.
This world series is going to suck and I'm not going to waste valuable sleep time staying up to watch any of it.
At 1,012 miles for the year so far I'm already 40 miles ahead of last years total and my avg. pace is 6 seconds/mile faster.

I learned:
1) That my extended family is very strange, but also very cool.
2) A good calling plan helps my g/f who is 3 hours away seem a little closer.
3) Work is much more fun when your boss (and also their boss) are gone for the day.
4) My name is Will and I'm a Powerbar addict.

I've learned:
Yes, you really can make it for a whole week with only 5 dollars to your name.
When all else fails, return to what you know. There is comfort in an IBM Aptiva.
Ian's law says that he will call the person you least want to tangle with a bad name.
Dyeing my hair purple is looking like more and more fun.

I've learned:
The Marlins are a very good baseball team.
Alot more info about the Kobe case.
I love my CC runners...
2 of my BB players are getting recruited, big time. (lots of phone calls)
Molly is letting Hayden become a nerd.
Elkid is cheering for both teams in the series.
Rupert is awesome on Survivor.

1) The Sox are NEVER going to make it to a World Series
2) As Elkid, I also learned that marathon training/working FT/ school PT/and taking care of my 2 year old nephew is making me one tired lady (but it's all worth it!)
3) My first marathon is 16 weeks away and I am going to ROCK!
4) Going through tough times shows you who your true friends are, they are always there even for the smallest things. ( MT)

I've learned:
- that I cannot assume that my marriage is over just because of X or Y. I've got to be able to let things slide and remember that I'm not perfect, nor is the hubby.
- that hubby is worried about keeping his job (not a skills thing, a money thing with the corporation). I'm a tad skeered.
- I can add a class on short notice, just means I start the semester a month later than usual. This is actually a good thing.
- having even a rushed breakfast with hubby at IHOP is nice.
- my paralegal course grade is an A. This makes 2 A's--still waiting on the other 2 grades to be submitted.
- I love playing Simpsons Clue with my kids!

and thanks to some cold I picked up as a souvenir in Chicago, I fully indulge in my post-marathon lounging as well.

I learned:
-that the two teams I had been cheering for are NOT going to the World Series
-that I will still miss baseball when I do my runs on the treadmill at the gym (repeat from last week)
-that Jay Varitek looks so different and all grown up as a man (his rookie card is closer to how I remember him). He seems to have turned out to be one good guy
-that just because the old running shoes look clean and are only three months old...doesn't mean they are good for you to run in. The new ones made such a difference
-that you marathon RRers Rock! I'm getting inspired here from you.
-that MW has purple hair? When did this happen?
-that I still love my team even if they got creamed by Miami

I've learned:
1. Having the post office lose a loan payment really sucks!
2. I'm really excited for tomorrow's race
3. The Curse of the Bambino is going strong
4. What the Curse of the Goat is actually all about
5. The Cubs were playing as if they were cursed for decades before that
6. I've reached 51 on the Riff Raff post list

I've learned:
-- One health scare this year wasn't enough to get my head out from up my arse, so the Powers That Be were kind enough to send me another one. I think I got the message this time.
-- My fundamental lack of faith is becoming more and more apparent as an important event nears.
-- I really would be absolutely nothing without my friends!
-- I'm finally starting to listen to my own good advice. It certainly took long enough.
-- Fall comfort foods can make any crappy day better!
-- and most important, I have a pretty darn good life right here and now so if nothing happens to alter that course, I'll still be OK. If it does, that's just a bonus.

1. Running Brewer adds a lot to the boards since he came over to the dark side and started to shirk his responsibilities. plus there's that whole pants issue I'm trying to understand
2. Poky and Pffff have jumped up a huge notch in my esteem (even though they were pretty high up there already)
3. This place isn't the same without Randy here...
4. You can still crave s'mores as a grownup.
5. That my memory is starting to fade--I'll add more as it comes to me...if I remember to.
