Posted: 07/11/03 - 08:44 Post subject: what have you learned THIS week?
- my body can handle a lot more pain and suffering than I thought
- sometimes it's much easier to let a stupid person think they're right even if they clearly are not
- crinkle cuts are better than shoestrings every time
- jrjo thinks I'm fat
- a disturbing number of people think basic human rights are negotiable and arbitrary
- diet ruby red Snapple is too tart to actually quench thirst
- it is indeed possible to forget, move on, and evolve (just for You, and You know who You are: I'm so glad we're OK now!)
What about you?

I learned that hearing Abby laugh makes me cry
I have learned that being overjoyed is overwhelming.
I have learned that some people endure a whole heck of a lot and inspire me.
I have learned that I could not have done it alone.
I have learned that strength is not always measured in pounds.
I have learned that men can cry over their little girls victory, tell other dudes, and other dudes will try hard to hold back tears too.
I have learned that the miracles that God does are unexplainable

Ooh! I need to learn that!!
I learned that slow and steady is much easier on the body.
I learned my cats will never do laundry for me (but they are fantastic at unpacking a bag...)
I learned some basic histology and how to identify a tracheal tissue, skin tissue, bone tissue, cardiac tissue, smooth and skeletal muscle tissue (um are you still awake? long story short, ALOT of anatomy...)
I learned (or remembered) I can handle a lot more on my plate than I sometimes realize.
I learned the phone won't work if the cord isn't in the wall.

I learned that:
there are more people besides me who hate summer
trying to give a 7 pound cat medicine is equivalent to trying to tackle a 1000 pound lion and pry their jaws open
my husband truly understands the vacation/rest concept since he hasn't left the house in 3 days.

I learned...
---that summer sucks ROCKS and I'm not the only one who thinks so
---that my tolerance for pain pretty much parallels my tolerance for incompetent doctors, which is to say DAMN LOW
---that alternative medicine beats modern medicine hands down
---that life's too short to hold grudges
---that first impressions are often misleading and people you think are worlds apart from you are really probably not
---that men are all nuts and women are even crazier for putting up with them
---that sometimes what you think you really want is not even close to the truth

I've learned that the more you want something, the more elusive it can be.
I've learned that sometimes internet friends are more thoughtful and concientious than "in-the-flesh" friends.
I've learned that life can be pretty darn frustrating.
Oh yeah--shallow people suck lemons, especially when they are in management.
I'm done learning for this week. Does next week look any better?

Actions, maybe, words....well, they leave a little to be desired. If there was more emphasis on the word part we wouldn't have these Mars/Venus complexes!!!

Based on my experience, men just say what they mean as simply as they can and women try to read between the lines and find all these hidden meanings that aren't there. And then it drives them nuts because they convince themselves we've said something entirely out of context of what we actually said.

I agree, if they actually choose to SAY something. My beef at the moment is that nothing gets said until things are at battleground stage and one of these days it's gonna be too late to backpedal.
But you're right...men ARE incredibly simple creatures!

I learned that:
I really ought to be more careful.
I did not tell you all but I also fell out of a hammock this week and have a tush injury too.
The people that are there for you when you need them can sometimes be a surprise.
And sometimes you just have to accept the fact that you may grow up faster than your friends.

How is that Ichitus Buttikoustis anyway?
And that last one is a sad realization isn't it?
