Posted: 11/07/03 - 09:49 Post subject: what have you learned THIS week
I've learned:
- even if you used to drink regularly, if you no longer do two pints pack a wallop
- taper sucks
- even if you've beaten an eating disorder, it sometimes crops up in small doses physically and in large ones mentally *
- sometimes when you ask for help, you actually receive it
- I'm very excited for a friend making a fresh start in the greatest city on the planet - HUGELY excited
- the Great American Diner is mecca (it truly is)
Now. You. Go!
* G - you were sooo right about this last week.

I learned:
No matter how much I put it behind me, hearing that my ex has latched his sucker onto another woman PISSES me OFF. Because I know what he will do to her. And he will somehow tie it to God and the Church.
It's fun to kick off my combat boots and get all girlie for a little bit.
Ranger G is the hottest thing you've ever seen in a three-piece suit.
How graphic CSI is.
If I keep stay calm and keep my voice low, an emotional explosion on my son's part can be contained quickly and with no hurt feelings.
It sucks to hear of friends in pain. Especially when all you can do from a distance is say silly things that make them laugh.
I do. not. like. being. called. Granny.

This week I learned:
- My wife will support me 100% were I to walk away from my job (morally, not financially).
- I do remember how to run in cold weather.
- How much junk we actually had in the garage, as opposed to stuff we wanted to save.
- Running is the best thing for getting out your frustrations from w**k.

-I will run the NYCM every year until I can't anymore (I just love that race)
-I just love being a daddy (I learn this every day, in fact)
-Riff Raffers are the best!

I learned that
--I cannot keep up with my husband in any aspect of our lives...he moves too fast
--I cannot make people happy, they have to help themselves
--if I say the word, my husband would move us somewhere warm
--I worry too much about others and not enough about myself
--I missed running with other people

I've learned:
- I actually can get myself up and run at 5am. I love having evenings free to do other things.
- Starting and maintaining a long-distance relationship with someone forces you to learn how to communicate with each other, which can be a good thing.
- Bananas in the morning sometimes give me wicked heartburn.

I've Learned:
-That a complement from a stranger can take me more miles on The Mill and build my confidence.
-That the birds are back. They've come in great numbers and have left a lot of droppings on our rooftop.
-That three babies entered the lives of friends/family all on the same day. Welcome Nicholas, Andrew John & Abby Kate!
-Little independant 2 year old boys still love to be rocked in their Mommy's arms with their favorite blankies.
-That I did not gain any weight this past week after consuming tons of Halloween candy. Whew! I thought I was going to really be paying for it.
-Sorting through kids clothes/toys is tedious, yet a relief to do. We're less cluttered once again.
-Little 4 year old, middle children thinks hand-me-downs are fun to receive. She's so good about it and such a neat kid. No complaints at all.
-When in doubt about a friendship with someone...pick up the phone and just call them. They might just being going through problems of their own.
-The meaning behind jrjo's banner (amphibious car). I have been wondering about it since I joined this place and finally asked.
-You Riffraffers Rock!

I've learned:
- PMs rock. Mucho thanks to you RR wimmins this morning.
- Raid makes a spray for winged creatures. It rocks.
- I still love Legos.
- Unless you are a mom, you don't get it. This isn't a bad thing, it just "is".
- It is way expensive to go to college (I learn this every semester)--so far about $10k for 3 semesters. Yipes, I'm gonna owe a lot of money before it's over.
- This is still my favorite forum. Youse guys rock.

I've learned that...
...I can and have easily fallen back to my procrastination nature at work (not good) and it's difficult for me to swing back.
...I want to have adult relationships with adults based on things other than children AS WELL AS some based upon family and children.
...I like talking about sex, religion and politics.
....although my daughter didn't bring home straight A's, I'm so very proud of her because she works hard and wants to do well.
...I'm worried that my rock of a dad might be feeling the effects of being 75 or worse and not telling anyone.
