A $4 road race! Sounds like fun, even for a 5K!
 
Saturday 17 January 2004 - 9:30 AM - Clarke County High School, Berryville, VA. Back again for another year is the Treasure Hunt 5K at Clarke County High School! Strategically placed "treasure cards" will be scattered about the course, so be sure to pick one up while you speed around the course. Then, after the race, you'll be able to redeem your card for a prize of some sort. The prizes, mind you, are usually small grocery items, but hey, at least you're getting something!
The coolest thing? No preregistration necessary, and entry fees are $3 for members, $4 for non-members, and $1 for full-time students. w00t! I shall run this on my way back to Philly from VA, particularly since my NC race fell through  . This may be my chance to actually WIN something at a race!

That's just weird. Last night I had a dream about a race where you had to search for a marker or something at speific points on the course before you could proceed. And you had to have all of them at the finish or you'd be dq'ed. It might have been this morning when I had just woken up, but I'm so out of it then, it may just as well have been a dream.

Members of the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners (Albany NY) participate in Winter Series Races for $ 4.00 per race or $ 6.00 for non-members. Prize at the end is usually a loaf of gourmet bread for age category winners.
I only won the age category once when I participated as a member of a Marathon Relay team. Our combined team age made us winners by just showing up. The bread was good.
