Before you get into an argument with a DH/DW or SO (Dear Hubby/Wife or Significant Other) As yourself: What will "this" mean in five years ? If it will be around in five years then its worth discussing otherwise, let it go.

My wife was training for the Palm beach marathon. She told me that she thought she was injured and I said, nah, its just a tight blah blah. Go ahead with your training. She did.
During her 20 miler, she tore the large muscle that retracts the knee. It site under the hammy. She could not straghten her leg. Scary stuff.
2 months later she started running again and now has constant hip pain.
If you think your injured, don't risk a carreer threatening run for prides sake, what a waste that would be.

RAS i understand the feelings too. bottom line is you know you better than anyone else. your the only one that truly knows what level of fitness your in. more than likely just the time off to recover from the injury with rehab has taken off what you would be and understanding that it will show in your placements as well. It;s not about how you feel on rce day, but how have you felt throughout the training.
you'have not had time to "test" it out and see how well your injury has healed, there is a big difference to finishing and finishing WELL. that is part of being an athlete as well.

that's interesting. I tore my hammie last fall and finished the marathon. I had pt and thought I was healed. Yesterday, another PT (I'm going to a different place for pt) starting looking me over when the other guy was working on me and went right to the spot of my injury and said "what's going on with this muscle"? I looked at my pt and said "did you tell him?" he said "no". They say my pelvis is weak. I wanted to tell them I was waiting for my uterus to fall out

thanks everyone...... You guys are very insightful. I think the only thing that bothered me about bowing out of my last Boston was when I received a photo of me (not really me) finishing. Some chick had my number!!!! I was pissed. She was old.
On the bright side, maybe this year it's a 20 year old with my number
this is funny: my older sis said "can't you run a few miles and get a ride to the finish"? me: "yeah, and get banned for life".
