I'm out
All the dr appts this week, I feel somewhat better....my butt pain is gone and I only have a burning sensation in my back, but I'm too emotionally drained to run Boston. I've fought with the SO all week, he thinks I'm throwing all my training away. (we're talking major type A) I'm 0-2 for Boston. My husband thinks not lining up is a sign of my weakness. I don't like looking that way to people.
I'll be in my rabbit hole 'til Tuesday

Sorry to hear that Sue. I don't think it's a sign of weakness. It's possible you could harm yourself even more by going in and competing because you know you couldn't go there "just to finish".

You should feel better about wanting to finish strong than just finish.
Next year.

I know this has to be a big blow. I'm sorry with this and hope you can be at peace with things in your heart.

Sorry Sue. It must have been a tough decision but probably for the best. Like Rob said you don't want to hurt yourself worse and you're probably the type who couldn't run without giving it your everything.

Sorry to hear that, but if you aren't comfortable, it's your decision.
You'll get there someday.

You have done the right thing. If your DH was in the amount of pain you're having I am certain he would not even consider walking a 5K somewhere.
Its YOUR BODY and YOUR FUTURE HEALTH not his. Please remember one major thing: the only person that can make you upset is YOU. Do not let what "Mr Type A" is saying influence your future health.
Remember my 5 year rule about discussions with SOs and DHs ? Well, this is one of them: if you do the Boston, it will definetly have an effect on you five years from now.
OK enough of this - what can you do for next year ? I highly recommend taking Kripalu Yoga classes. Getting some deep massages once in a while would not hurt either. Review your shoe selection. Stretch, stretch and more stretch.
Good luck !!

okay Oprah!!!
Andy, I agree. I'm not an Oprah watcher, but I watched a little bit and she said "everything happens for a reason". She did get a little religious about it, but she did say that you have control and if things keep going wrong....blah,blah. (I have a hard time with the idea when a parent has a sick child, how can you change that)? But as I watched, I just "knew" that my situation meant more than race, it was about my relationship with my husband. He was like a toddler throwing a tantrum when I told him I "thought" I was injured. I've failed in his eyes for not "trying", but I have to look in the mirror and say "I'm right" and like you said, 5 years from now, he'll respect me for making my own decision, not bowing to his.
it's the stretching and core stuff . I'll have to get some core workouts from J-UP. I promised my husband, no sluffing in this area
