Okay, brides, brides to be, brides of yester-year, grooms....I have 6 more weddings in the coming months....(UNCLE! UNCLE I SAID!! Mad )

Is it horribly tacky or frowned upon to just get a gift card, particularly when your registry no longer has any gifts in my price range? And if gift card, would you prefer to a store you are registered? Or a store of my choosing (ie Crate and Barrel)? Or a completely separate gift of my choosing (probably from C&B)? I mean, I'm thinking a gift card would be gravy, buy that weird thing you didn't register for, add up gift cards to buy that (this is real) $1,600 item on your registry... But then, I have this *ahem*<thats tacky>*ahem* twinge....just double checking.

I always give cash, but I try to limit my wedding appearances to about 1 a decade.

Gift card: lovely idea that accomplishes what the registry was intended to: ensure that the bride and groom get what they want and don't have to rely on the sometimes-hideous taste of their guests. Do it.

Miss Manners says gifts are not required at all. Do what you can.

Unfortunately in July's wedding, I'll be the one at the alter next to the bride

Sandy and I would love gift cards or money, so i'd imagine many people would too.

Gift Card thumbs up

If they have already received all the things on their registry, I think this is the way to go. They can figure out what to spend the money on.

I say you skip the gift card and buy yourself those strappy sandals you posted in the other thread so you'll look really good at the rehearsal dinner.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Neither of us would really do that, but it would feel good for about a minute!!!

For reals, gift cards ROCK!!!!

Then they would be hella-screwed. Actually, a lot of weddings do that, and I think that is called the 'dollar dance' :gag:

Well, at the bachelor party the dollars are flowing in the opposite direction...
