What a great day for a race! Beautiful weather. About 3/4 of the Mafia present and an opportunity to meet a newbie!
I could've done two things on this one...I could've ignored my lack of training and painfully try for a PR, or I could I run a fun race and try to help out my homey Shelee out...I knew I'd take WAY more satisfaction on getting Shel a PR...
Our planned out first mile at 8:30 ended up clockin in at 7:45 so that strategy was out the window. Throughout the next three miles we came in at around 8:07 a mile. Shel did an AWESOME job of running through her pain/doubts and stuck with me the entire way. She was hurting in the last 1/2 mile but really stepped it up for the final kick crossing the finish line in 40:05! I was SOOO incredibly proud of her...she beat her PR by OVER 2 minutes and guess what? She brought home the gold for her age group!!!! 
Way to go Shel! And it was awesome meeting Bad Jenny (shelee and paul were looking for someone being 'bad' when I arrived  ) Luckily she was supah sweet and didn't take our lunch monies... 
thanks to Paul, Rando and little Mikey for coming out and showin love! It was great to see you all!
Oh, and Paul and shel, I hope you don't mind but I invited NICK over to join us here online

Good going Joel.. nothin' wrong with pacing a fellow riffer to a Pr and gold!! (you did get half that medal, no?)

Yeah, I was very impressed with the turn-out...(it IS one of the nicest camera phones on the market so it bettah be good! )
