Hey all! First off, congrats to everyone that raced on this past weekend! Looks like we got ourselves a bunch of PRs! Yahoo for you's!!!
the Madison Experience has ended and I'd call it a major success! So very cool to see fellow riff raffers in 3-D, yo...
Well as I've babbled in the past, I changed my half to the 10K because of recent foot injuries and was delighted to hook up with Megawill. His plan was to take it 'nice and slow' and that delighted me some. My ONLY goal was to finish, and let me tell ya, when that's your only goal, there's ZERO pressure on ya!
Just about a 1/2 mile into the race I could feel the pain starting the throbbing I knew so well...luckily, at about mile 3 it kind of just 'numbed'. I told Jerry to just keep talking so I wouldn't focus on it. We enjoyed some nice conversation as we ran through some runner-friendly neighborhoods (only one hill!). The last 4K went along the lake. I tell ya. The weather...the scenery...It was all too perfect. Mega kept telling me to 'go ahead' but I said 'nope, I'm fine where I am!'. (I wonder if I smelled?) I was delighted to see the wife, genie and another friend cheering us on as we rounded the corner. Mega had a nice kick at the end and we ended up finishing together!! (and no, we weren't holding hands ). A time of 55 and some change, I believe...
After the race we went back to where genie and crew were cheering and I got to see C-Jay (holy hella-fast Batman!), Jrjo, trekay, EL, shelee and rando cross the finish line! Riff Raff was WELL represented yesterday!
It was nice to run a race without being all competitive and such. I'd like to thank Mega for the support (and I'd like to thank CB for snubbing me! She saw Jerry running but didn't see me right next to him? )...
Having said that, I can't wait to get better so I can kick out some of my own PRs!!!
peace!
joel

Nice report, Joel. You both did a great job. Soon your foot will be on the mend and you'll be ready to race again.

Glad you could make it through the 10K, foot injuries suck. It was great to be able to hang with you and Joy and all the other riff raffers for the weekend. Now rest that foot, you have 3 weeks till the Bellin, even if you don't run we still get to trash Sue's room.

Good race, Joel! Sounds like you had a great time, and I am sooo jealous.
Well, heal up good, because the Bronx Half mary is coming up in July!

Go Joel go!
That is a pretty great time for a numb foot.
Glad to hear you and megawill really enjoyed the race, too.

Sounds great Joel. Of course I say that as I'm kicking myself for not making the drive Saturday.
Congrats on the time. And to pull that off with a sore foot is even better. Now let that foot heal!

Did you at least do a cartwheel or a diving finish across the line?

Take care of that wheel there mister modulator. Playing air hockey on one leg is no easy task. Even with an easy 10km on the books, you still have a t-shirt that says 'marathon'

I wasn't snubbing you, you were just running to fast to be seen by the human eye.
