I have finished two marathons, and found that a 4 week taper left me a little unfocused come race time. Has anyone played around with different taper lengths? Any hints/suggestions you can give me?

Every one is different and will react to the taper in different ways. My personal experience, and it is only that, is that a 2 week taper is perfect. I couldn't imagine a 4 week taper; I'd go nuts.

How can you know it's perfect if you've only run one marathon? I don't mean to knock Tim here (I know 3 weeks worked well for him - I saw his time. ), but I think it's going to be one of those things where you figure it out by trying different things. If you have a hunch that something might work better, give it a shot.

Thanks for the information. I am trying out a two week taper this time. Wish me luck!
