ok, give me some modifiers to that 'depends' option, and maybe we can sort it out?

i have a Dell Satellite. it's only 2 years old. i reckon it's up to speed enough, but there might be that special video card.

how can i find out if i have it?

you'll need a hardware guy to tell you for sure - laptops are a lot less flexible with things they can do because of power and space consideratons

a fair number of folks here have desktops set up like that - never seen it with a laptop

the two different things is an easy feature to turn on.

Control Panel -
Appearance Themes -
Display -
Settings -
and then pick one or two monitors (and if it's same or different).

i think i'll just plug in a monitor at see what happens. probably easier that way.

I'm 99% sure you're need a special video card - the issue would be can that kind of video card be forced into a laptop ...
