MARIETTA (AP) -- Traffic is backing up for miles in Cobb County where police have shut down Interstate 75 in both directions (at Windy Hill Road) as a man threatens to jump from an overpass.
Police are negotiating with the man, who they say is NOT armed. He is on the outside railing.
They are trying to talk him down.
They have been negotiating with him since about 11:15 a-m.
The shutdown is causing a major traffic tie-up.
It's also causing traffic to build up in the westbound lanes of Interstate 285.

MARIETTA (WGCL) -- Traffic was resumed after a several-hour back up for miles in Cobb County. Police had to shut down Interstate 75 in both directions (at Windy Hill Road) as a man threatened to jump from an overpass.
Police apparently tried to grab the man, but he fell to the pavement below. He reportedly survived the fall as rescue crews rushed him to the hospital.
Police were negotiating with him for several hours. They were trying to talk him down since the negotiating began about 11:15 a-m.
They say he was NOT armed as he paced back and forth on the outside railing.
The shutdown was causing a major traffic tie-up in the entire area around I-75 at Windy Hill Road.
It was also causing traffic to build up in the westbound lanes of Interstate 285.
