You're older than you look. Razz I had those before they were outlawed.

We still have a set. Smile

Didn't the Lawn Dart Gestapo come knocking on your door during the Great Lawn Dart Purge?

apparently not, I would swear there is a set in my parents' garage, which means they not only survived the gestapo, but a cross country move...

I had a Velvet doll (my sisters had Chrissy and the other one). I still have her in fact, though her pretty purple dress is long gone and my daughter pulled the long hair right out of her head. My sister cut the hair off hers because she thought it would automatically grow back. Smile

We also had lawn darts and a toss-across.

I had the Chrissy doll too!. We has some pretty neat stuff becuase my dad never really had any toys growing up; his parents had no money. SO he'd buy us (two girls) toys under the pretext that they were for us (like a full size Pachinko machine, a train set, a chemistry set, a mini-race car track with battery operated cars...there was tons of stuff. We even had a mini garage with a battery-operated lift for the cars!

On the girlie side, anyone remember the BArbie townhouse with the lift and the Barbie mall, complete with hair salon?

I loved the escalator at the salon! I also had the Barbie pool. That is, until mom took it away because I kept flooding my bedroom.

Sure, but I don't recall that they were "Bowling for Dollars" pins and balls. The balls had those indentations into which no human fingers could fit. Didn't matter. Usually ended up using a pin as a bat and seeing how far you could hit the "bowling ball."

For all you folks referring to "lawn darts," when they were first introduced, they were known as "Jarts." It was a brand name. The flights had two colors: red and blue. The scoring rings were yellow. And if the game became too lopsided, interest could be revived by allowing the losing side/opponent to prevent the other side's Jart from scoring by catching it in flight. Ah, yes, the great equalizer! Jarts...not a game for the spastically unco-ordinated.

And no one's mentioned a Frisbee...or the very basic sticks, rocks, and dirt.

Ok, if klipity klops were the things that you walked around on, what were Romper Stompers?

My Barbies had full size GI Joe dolls for companionship. Ken was such a wuss. Should have saved those GI Joe dolls, though - saw one in a antique store for $400 in the original box. Man, that just made me feel old Sad

Wooden blocks
Matchbox cars and trucks...from the 50's
Original GI-Joe. I had the hardhat diver with the brass helmet and canvas suit.
Gilbert Master Builder Erector Set....the biggest one they made.
Wham-O airblaster
And my all time favorite....a Playmobile...I think it was about 1958-59.

All this stuff is considered antique and collectable....just like me Mr. Green

I have two scars on the back of my head from stitches due to playing with those basic rocks. Evil or Very Mad

We had an apple orchard behind our house and we used to carve throwing sticks. A nice green stick about 1/2" in dia. and 3-4' long. Pierce an apple with it and then use it as a lever to throw said apple a long long way. Very inaccurate though, lotsa distance but difficult to hit a target.
