We have liberated a country the size of Texas from a brutal dictator that used chemical weapons to kill millions of his own people. And if it matter to our own national security, said dictator defied the will of the free world for 10+ years.
I'd say we helped them really well.
P.S. Here is a very good read on the "documetary"
Unfairenheit 9/11: The lies of Michael Moore
| Quote: | | Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of "dissenting" bravery. |
|
I am a true believer that everyone has their own opinion and that we should all try to be as educated as possible on all sides of any discussion, especially when it is political.
That being said....what exactly do you mean by "liberated". Sacrificing our troops in order to kill innocent people? Sorry, just not buying it.

A great photo op, to be sure, but what they don't show you is when someone snitches her out.
I hope she gets to use it. |
Photo op? As in, opportunity? It appears to be more of a set piece by Morenatti than that of a mere opportunity. But that's okay. Maybe he'll win a prize for it.
But sonnylax....sonny, sonny, sonny. Why must he be the poster child as the whipping boy for non-Republican types? For instance, "Should we refer back to the way things used to be?" Doesn't he mean they? Maybe they will prefer it! It should have nothing to do with we...we, as in Americans, right? If they prefer the previous form of goverment, will we allow it? I mean, gee, sonny doesn't think we should be "...dissuaded from our efforts to help them establish a free country of their own." I guess that they don't have a choice. I wasn't aware that our reason for being in Afghanistan was to see to it that the citizens be given the chance for a free country. I thought it was (ostensibly speaking) to root out OBL and his al Qaida minions in order to eliminate terrorism. That the Taliban had to take some hits was a good reason, too, but who's next on the list, Cuba? I'm pretty sure that they'd like to have a free country of their own. You don't even need to go to Cuba to find out. Just head down south Florida way.
And that bit about "...a rocky road. Just like Iraq." What?!? Rocky? To the tune of 900 American lives? Not quite. And the civilian population of Afghanistan hasn't had its number reduced anywhere near the number like in Iraq. It might be rocky but it sure ain't like Iraq.

Don't worry... When Castro takes the Giant Dirt Nap soon, Cubans will rise up and begin to establish a free country of their own.

I don't believe we are sacrificing out troops. But the death of innocent people is unfortantely collateral damage when you are fighting an enemy that hides in places where civilians congregate (churches, schools, etc.). Furthermore, they know the left-leaning media will publicize these "civilian deaths" to raise sypathy and further their cause.
To date - Approx. 900 US troops have died in Iraq in around 16 months. Compare that number to WW2 (~ 500,000 deaths), Korea (~35,000 deaths), and Vietnam (~60,000 deaths). It is 900 too many, but that number pales in comparsion to previous American wars.

I'm not holding my breath. He just doesn't seem to want to die.
But how 'bout them Cubans? How many of them now living in the United States will return to fight the good fight?
Let's see...would you prefer to live in this country with all the good things we have here or would you prefer to go back to a desert island? It'll be a long, long time before Cuba, even without Castro, will be transformed into something other than a powerful Third World country.
I can see it now....a mass exodus of Cubans on the beaches of Miami or Key West, with their thumbs out trying to hitch a boat back to Cuba. Yeah, right.
But they do have some tasty smokes down there.

Enemy...what enemy? Sadam? Thought we caught him. Or are you talking about the "weapons of mass distruction"? Sheesh...you gotta be kidding me.

Al-Queda and forces sympathetic to them attacking US & Coalition troops establishing a new free society.
Please don't tell you that you believe the WMD are a myth. They have been found on multiple occasions in Iraq. Some missles were found outside Baghdad last week.

Yes, I actually do believe that many things that come out of GW's mouth are a myth!

Not being well-versed in Phillyspeak, extremely politically charged is a euphemism for....?
