But I don't! I swear I do not know one single gay person. Am I alone here?
I think I may have more of an opinion on the whole same sex marriage issue if I did know someone it affected. As it is right now, I'm a bit whatevah about it.

None? That's amazing. I know several! Of course, I'm the worst judge and am always shocked when someone tells me they're gay. I was going to fix a friend in my running group up with someone the other day and she was amazed I didn't know she was gay. Not a clue.

Or maybe you don't know if you know anyone who is gay.
I know a few. A couple guys at work, one of Sandy's friends, my former friend's mother and "aunt".

Actually, I didn't personally know any either until I moved here four years ago. Now I actually work with two, both women. I know from conversation that they both have partners and both wear what looks like a wedding band. In thinking about the issue, I suppose I don't really have a strong opinion about it, one way or the other. I mean I don't understand the whole gay thing anyway. It seems pretty clear that the way "things" fit together should tell you what the intent was where it comes to couples.

10% of the population is gay, so assuming this is a fair representation of society: there are 471 members in the Running Forums, 47 members are gay.

If I was forced to form an opinion one way or the other I guess I'd have to say that in stating you're gay, you're sort of casting aside the whole conformity to society, so why should doing something as traditional and conformist as marriage be important to you? I don't know, I'm just going off half baked.
I think children of same sex couples are in for a tough haul, from peers and other parents alike.

In my neighborhood there are a lot of children with two mothers. It's not a big deal. It's not even a little deal. Don't you see that none of that is set in stone? It is what you make of it.
You know plenty of people who are gay. Whether you know that about them is another matter.

Yes you do. You just don't know it. 9 times out of ten, you won't. The stereotypical gay person is about 10% of the total population.
Could be anyone...
