OK, so the bride (future SIL) wants her stagette on a houseboat, at $300/hr. I decline, telling the organizer this wedding is costing me loads and I have to start saying no, and this is where I'm starting.
After dinner with the in-laws last night, the betrothed couple mention to the sister that their wedding seems to be placing financial stress on us (gee, ya think?) and could sister find a way to 'casually mention' that they would like to pay my way on the houseboat and hubby's way on the golfing stag that also sprung out of nowhere in the last week or two.
Now I'm FUBAR. If I don't go I'm a B*tch because the offer was made and if I do I feel like a sponger the whole time because they really can't afford to be paying my way either.
My only option is to go and pay my own way, which I can't afford and is the whole reason I said I wasn't going in the first place.
Going to make a bleach highball now.....

You're not alone on your trek.

Do a google search for Bridezilla, there are plenty of other stories out there that are worth a good laugh.

Hey! Wait a minute.... Is it just "coincidence" that someone with my name is in a Bridezilla story? HMMM?

Wow. If I ever find someone I can tolerate for more than 6 months at a time, we're SO eloping. How ridiculous....
dare I ask, can it get worse?

Shannon, I wouldn't go. In my opinion, the bride and groom have incredibly unreasonable expectations, and their choices have made these events exclusionary and that is not your fault. I would feel uncomfortable accepting their offer as well, and I would not have a good time at the event knowing I was there on someone else's nickel. I would feel even worse paying to attend when I know that it is not in my budget to do so. Neither option would be acceptable to me, so I would respectfully decline.

Although I think it important to point out that you might want to wait a few years and see if you're still tolerating them... tee-hee

It was a beautiful wedding and everything went perfectly. The bride and groom were both very happy. pink love

As for the purple sausage, the dress fit okay, and it stretched out a bit over the course of the day so it wasn't too bad although it was a bit tight after a fantastic dinner. Shocked

This is a very good thing as I had it on from 1pm to 2am. fubby

I wasn't the only one, either... there were a few other purple sausages there too. Razz
