Posted: 08/05/05 - 15:55 Post subject: the older i get, the more i despise the mall
when i got there, i was in a fine mood, by the time that i left, i was soooo effin grumpy that i had to go shopping elsewhere to cheer me up.
it began with the entirely fruitless search for a pair of shorts. but since school is starting back there are no shorts to be found ANYWHERE even though it will be hot enough for shorts for three more months. guess i should have gotten some way back in february when they first came out.
then i went to VS. i worked there for three months, which included xmas and i know the girls are just doing their job, but does every person in the store really have to offer thier assistance or someother commentary to me multiple times???
then the lady at the cell phone booth, she called after me like there was toilet paper on my shoe just to get my attention so she could ask me who my provider was.
then the lady at the stinky lotion booth wanted me to stop so i could try the latest stinky lotion.
when i go to shop, i usually go alone and dont really want to be bothered, unless i specifically want help with something, at which point i will ask.

No kidding. That's why internet shopping has become so popular.
We are lucky enough to have jumpers and stabbings at our mall. If only they could somehow include stinky lotion lady AND cell phone beyotch.....

I avoid shopping until I absolutely need something. No aimless mall wandering for me. And even when I need something, I do like online shopping.
This weekend here in Texas is back to school "Tax Free Weekend" where you don't have to pay sales tax on a list of items, school supplies, clothing up to $100, etc. The malls will be PACKED, all to save that 8 cents per dollar. If someone said "We're having a sale! Everything is 8% off!" I don't think I'd go out of my way. Bless those poor souls who happen to actually NEED to go shopping this weekend and not realize. Its worse than Christmas. And I need to buy a printer

I hate the mall too. Did you buy something elsewhere to make up for it?

I usually hate the mall too, but found all my goods there for my trips. I was pleasantly surprised by this.

The biggest mall around here has instituted a no one under 18 without a parent rule about 2 weeks ago. This will hopefully minimize some of the problems they've been having at that mall. This should put an end to the "drop the kidlet at the mall for 6 hours" parental ploy. Now the parents will actually have to go with the kids.
I don't know about all the stinky, sticky, whatever people. I never have a problem with any of them - maybe its because I look like I don't want any contact with them.

All I have to say is that if the mall is on fire, I won't be calling 911.
