I have this kick arse crankset en route to me RIGHT NOW:

By next spring the Trek 1000 will be sporting new paint and some rad components. Fear me.

Aren't you currently on a triple?

You'll have to change your STI levers, front der. and rear der. to switch to a double.

Are you sure? That crankset is for a nine speed rear, which I have. And I'm currently running only two rings, since I can't shift into my little ring at. all. Front derailleur I already replaced with a 105, which does NOT like the triple ring.

Edited to add it would not break my heart at all to have to replace my shifters to 105 as well. I don't like the Sora flight deck at all.

Translation: I bought an entry level bike. Now I wish it was something else. So I'm throwing money at the problem. Ebay here I come!
Note: Biker people will be asking themselves 'why doesn't she just buy a better bike? Answer: I have mad Ebay skills. And my bike is super comfy fit wise. And I have developed an emotional attachment to it, because I am a woman and we do that.

Your STI levers are for a triple. Prolly won't work with a double front der and double crankset.

If you'll need to switch to a short cage rear der. instead of the long cage rear der. you have now.

No, I converted a triple to a double. The LBS adjusts the front der.

I guess I just figured it would be an easy swap since I'm basically riding a double now, but carrying the weight of a triple. If I keep the shifters I have now they will still triple shift, but I just won't use the little ring shift. I can't use it now anyway, it doesn't work. My chain falls off and jams in the crank.
I bet I can adjust the front derailleur to make the rear work with a double. If not I'll send you a case of Coffee Crisp as an "I told you so prize".

for the money you should have gone right to the Ultegra. Although I have 105's on my C'dale and I can outride most any other rider out there on that bike. It is super fast. (Read really stiff.)

The front d. will probably work, but you will be plagued by sloppy shifting forever.

Either way, ENJOY
