Posted: 07/14/05 - 22:35 Post subject: the continuation of my engagement ring saga.
and hopefully the conclusion as well.
long story short: i got a beautiful eternity setting (stones all the way around). i had it barely two months, a side stone fell out. got it fixed. three weeks later the same stone fell out again. i ordered a new ring. today, not quite three months later, a stone fell out. when i oreder the new ring, i discussed just getting a new setting. if i cant enjoy what i have, then why have it? the sales person suggested that i try ordering a new ring (same style that i started out with) and see what happens from there.
well i have spent the last almost three months being paranoid beyond belief. today, when i realized that at some point i lost a stone, i had had enough.
i went to the jewler and there was a woman talking to my sales lady with the exact same ring, having the exact same problem! this made me feel better, that it wasnt just me. she showed the co owner and he said they would not be selling that ring anymore. so anyway, i picked out a new setting that only has stones half way around the band. they are going to remount my center stone and ill have it back right after i get back from new orleans next week. hopefully this will be the end of the drama and i can have a normal engagement ring.

That's why my wife has a solitaire. Besides, when we got engaged in the dark ages, those types of rings were not available.

I think it's a sign the guy who was supposed to repair it, saw you and fell in love...so he screws up on purpose, so you'll have to come back in.
Sounds like you got the problem solved.

Sounds frustrating! Hopefully this will solve the problem. I hope you like the new ring as well.

I was starting to think it was called an eternity because of all the non-stop problems. If it happens again, two words: Duct. Tape.

Your ring was gorgeous but I'd definitely be paranoid! I'm so clumsy I'd have lost half of the stones by now. I'm glad you got it replaced with a ring you can actually LIVE with. Good for you.
Andy, not to make anyone paranoid, but even solitaires fallout...my friend lost a ginormous emerald cut topaz at a bonfire in college.

Wow. That sucks. That's wierd about that setting. My wedding ring is an eternity band, and I have not had any trouble with it at all.

That sucks froggie. I hope the new one works out better. I have an eternity band but it is a pave' setting (teeny, tiny prongs) and haven't had an issue with stones falling out...yet!
