to not pay for some of Abby's medicine.
I just got a check for the full amount of the medication that they made me pay for.
If they would've approved the claim they would've paid half.

Good for you. And speaking of insurance companies, both my kids made out like bandits on their not-at-fault car accidents. Looks like they're both going to end up getting nicer vehicles than they were driving.

I'm just glad that health insurance isn't like car insurance where if you use it your premiums go up.

Um, they sort of do. | Instead of being on an individual basis, it's spread over the group. The bigger the group, the less impact a few big claims will have on premiums, but in small groups a few big claims can bump premiums pretty good...happened here.
Joe, is your coverage through a plan with multiple cities' employees?

OK- I hope none of you work for insurance companies, 'cause I'm going on a rant here. Car insurance is without a dought the biggest rip off ever invented. You pay in, over and over and over, and oh yeah, if you ever dare to use it, they charge you even more. I wish I could essentially self-insure my car. Instead of wasting huge sums of cash by sending it to the ins. co. each month, I could just set a portion of those funds into a highly liquid account. If I ever needed to fix my car, the funds would be there. I despise sending huge chucks of my money away every month knowing I'll never get any benefit from it, and if I try to, I'll be punished by having to send even larger amounts in each month. Yet the law requires you to buy it, so the ins. companies have you over a barrell, and there's nothing you can do about it. I HATE CAR INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MM - you can self-insure in some states. TN is one of them I believe.

Here in PA, you have to have it, not that everyone does, but the PD can tow your car if you don't nor can you get your car inspected without proof of insurance.

You have six or seven figures lying around idle to cover a liability claim?

Give me all the money back that the law has forced me to waste on car insurance, and I would.
