I vote for the low voltage battery.
Before getting a new one - check the connections. The heat and humidity may have spawned just enough corrosion on the terminals to affect the connection thus letting too little juice to the starter.
Yes, cars have to be driven or they will start to have problems. I also recommend a 30 - 45 minute romp on the interstate once a week to "burn up" the crud in your crankcase.

Just fitting isn't it? Is it dead when you turn the key or does the engine sound like it's churning, but never turns over? |
It doesn't turn over its just clickclickclickclickclick. I think I need to jump the battery. Possibly buy a new one. I don't drive the car much at all, so its not getting charged up I guess? Good times, good times.
note to self: time to buy my own jumper cables |
I'm not sure but I think if it's the battery you get no noise?? |
Dad says its not that its dead, it just doesn't have enough charge to get the starter started. The radio comes on, the dings ding, the interior and dash lights light....just clickclickclickclickclick |
Dad's right. It's got a partial charge on it which means either:
1. The battery is on it's last legs and won't hold a charge
2. Your alternator or voltage regulator crapped out and isn't charging the battery.
My guess is no. 1. |
Rob wins! We got it jumped, and then I went and had it looked at and it was the battery. Problem solved, and the saturn is happy again.
um...how long are batteries supposed to last? I can't tell you without looking it up but I'd swear that battery was only 2 years old. Is that normal?

Weather extremes (hot or cold) tend to affect battery life and capabilities. Depending on the weather extremes you get in your part of the country, a battery should last about three years or so.
This factor also hinges on the type of battery and what the manufacturer says it should last.
If anyone in your family or aquaintances has a multimeter, have them check the alternator output. You should be getting about 13V DC at the battery.

I had them look at the alternator yesterday, they said it was fine.
I also just looked up when I got that last battery, 2 years almost to the day 9/2/03
