Is the secret weapon of the vegetarian's world. Beware, you who crack jokes about 'granola munchers' and 'tree huggers'. My entire meatasaurus family is coming to dinner tonight and will be enjoying my homemade lasagna, which I laced heavily with TVP. If you're not used to consuming 30-50 grams of fibre a day, the result a few hours later will be

ka-boom!

You can buy it at bulk/health food stores. It looks a little like oatmeal, and you add an equal part of boiling water, let it stand for 10 minutes, and then use it to replace meat in whatever. The better brands have added B12 and aminos to make it a complete meat replacement. 1/2 cup of the stuff (prepared) has 23 grams of fat free protein. But....it is soy based and VERY high in fibre. A bit of a colon bomb for those who are used to getting their protein 'on the hoof', as it were.

I'm not going to tell you how or what to feed your family but... That stuff makes me very ill for about 18 hours. Is that what you want for your guests ?

I feed it to them all the time, with the same hilarious effects. My sister has a 1 hour drive home and usually has to hit the McD's bathroom halfway there. Dude, lighten up! Nothin's funnier than poo.

You're right, I should lighten up. Nothing is funnier that 18 hours of cramps, gas and diarreah.

Shannon, I'm sorry, Maybe its because I'm almost decrepit, but I just don't see the humor in making others physically uncomfortable.

Oh for heaven's sake, would it make you feel better to know that I EXAGGERATED FOR COMIC EFFECT? That my family will go home and not poo their guts out? That you just sucked all the joy out of my life?
