Why? What is the point? I find them tedious and kind of pointless considering your typing into a device that allows you to call someone yet my Euro-dad (his new name) thinks he's cute when he sends them. I try to reply and it takes me 20 minutes to contruct some tonto-sounding reply "Me-good. Love-you. you--good?" and now it won't send (or I just sent it 7 times, I'm not sure)
JUST CALL ME ALREADY DAD!!

I've not discovered the world of text-messaging and probably never will.

It is such a b!tch just to type names into a Motorola, not to mention text messages. I feel your pain, sistah.

I finally got Euro-dad to call, he's sitting in a bar, enjoying the finest nectar breweries offer in a bar in the Benelux. /jealous

My dad once called me at work just to tell me he was drinking and I was working.

I'm not good at sending them. I think I've sent maybe three or four in my life. But I love to get them. Just short, sweet, I'm-thinking-of-you things.
Makes. me. smile.

The Euros are really big into that, I noticed that when we all went to Ireland last year. I don't think Liam called me ONCE while I was over there, he'd send me text messages as long as his race reports! It was kinda funny....

It is a pain, but its nice feature to have on the phones. The lovely bride and I have been sitting across the room from each other and have a little flirting session via text

Isn't it hard not to bust up laughing though?
I get text messages at 1am asking if I'm coming to the bars. Duh, if I was coming don't you think I would already be there! I'd rather have the text message notice rather than the cell phone ring and then ring when I get a drunk a$$ voicemail that I can't understand and is very loud.

I don't get them at all either. I have maybe received 4 in my life and it does take a long time to respond.
I guess I am getting old.
I am with you PFFF, just call already.
