Sure, Rob...but what about the pre-game show?
CBS has put the big canx on MTV-produced "entertainment." Kind of makes a person wonder why CBS chose MTV. I mean, it's a football game. Who do they think their audience is?
The announcing sucked? Are you saying that t.v. announcers are for the benefit of the blind? You know, the ones who don't have radios? Or maybe they're hired to explain the game to those viewers who don't understand the game. I have to take them - Gumbel and Simms - to task for going soft on the official who clearly missed a call. You know the one. Receiver cleanly catches and has possession of the ball, gets both feet down in bounds, and is then hit, loses ball, and it's recovered by the opposing team. Said official was within five yards of the play and in perfect position to make the call and was not obstructed. Plain and simple, he blew it. Is it considered bad form to point it out? Announcers don't go so easy on players who make mistakes. Hey, the officials stop the game and give you the number of a player who commits an infraction! Isn't the officiating crew for the NFL Championship game supposed to be the best that the NFL has to offer?
Ya gotta wonder. A championship game and people are talking about halftime shows and commercials....

Spilled beers? The Rule: You can drop your pants but don't drop your beer.

Just when we thought it was so boring it became a good game to watch.

That was very poor taste..very poor.
If it wasn't for Janet taking all they press today, I'm sure there'd be outrage over his flag disrespect.

I probably would have watched Sex and the City at 8 if the 2nd quarter hadn't gotten good. Very very good game. Commentators were pretty bad "TOUCHDOWN!!! wait, was he in?"
to Tagliabou (sp?) for having our retractible roof closed. It was gorgeous in H-town last night. I got to see the blackhawk flyover at my apt however.

One point for Greg Gumbel...he was the only announcer who correctly pronounced Belichick. Even the Commissioner and the Owner pronouced it "Beli-check."

2nd quarter: "oh my god, this is so boring." up until the last 3 minutes of the quarter I would have agreed. But hell they actually put some numbers on the board, exciting, no?
3rd quarter: "oh my god, this is so boring." surprisingly, I found all the penalties(especially on Carolina) quite entertaining!
4th quarter: "HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVAH! 85 yards! Go for the 2 points, you ballsy b*stards! OT would be cool, but how cool would it be to get a field goal in the last 4 seconds! WOO HOO!" Fourth was good but it would have been soooo much bettah in OT. |

This was the first year in a while that I couldn't really care less who won. The only thought I have is that the Carolina coach was an idiot for going for the two consecutive two point conversions. In my opinion he lost the game for them.

And John Kasay's kickoff...out of bounds? That gave the Pats decent field position and they didn't have to run it back to their 40-yd line nor handle the ball to get it there. After the Panthers tied the game, my comment was, "The Pats need to get good field position on the return...out to about their 40-yd line." Yeah, like I ever thought that Kasay would kick it out of bounds.

Yeah I agree! Those out of bounds kick offs are costly. That's the exact thing that helped the Cowboys beat the Giants early in the season.
