The Paramedic loves black olives. LOVES 'em. I, on the other hand, only like green. But that's besides the point.
Why are black olives that have the pits removed called pitted? Wouldn't it make more sense to say that those that still have the pits are pitted (as in, with pits) and have those without say Olives Without Pits? Or Olives - No Pits!
I always get it confused and end up asking an olivelover in the grocery store.

I don't know the answer to this. I do know that nothing sucks more than getting an olive with a pit in a greek salad.

I like the regular small spanish green olives with the pimento red thing in the middle
I guess no one here has ever had a sliced green olive and cream cheese sandwich...it was all the rage in the early 60's.

Olive Garden is awesome, wish there was one closer to my house though.

I love olives, all kinds, all shapes. I'm particularly enamored of a kind called seragnola at the moment--big, green, kinda nutty flavor.
I hate Olive Garden. It's faux Italian. Someone from Italy would smack you if you made them eat that.
I agree, Kid, the word should be "depitted." Regarding word questions, explain to me why flammable/inflammable and regardless/irregardless--words that seem to contrast--mean the same thing?
