Posted: 06/09/04 - 15:32 Post subject: stay at home moms....$ question
Our anniversary is next week and of course Father's day is coming up. We usually don't really do presents, but I'm just in the mood to. But I find it very difficult to buy "surprise" or somewhat pricey presents now that I don't have a separate income. First, I feel guilty about spending the money. Second, I feel like I can't really even hide it because we try to watch the credit card bill throughout the month to stay on budget, so I know he'll see some large charge and wonder, then if I have to tell it ruins the surprise. It makes it hard for me to feel like I can really go out and get him a nice present, which kindov stinks.
So what's a woman to do??? I could take the cash out and buy, but we get a rebate on our card so that seems like a waste, or I could buy it and then just tell him not to look at the statement, but then that tells him I've bought him something, or maybe just forget the whole idea.

A small gift paid for in cash. Yes, you'll lose the rebate but it's not that much money and the surprise is worth the tradeoff.

Molly,
Since there is a concern about the finances why don't you just wait this year and get something little. Then, save a little cash on the side throughout the year THIS year and buy something really nice for next year.

Well now that wouldn't be different than any Saturday night now would it?
Hmmm.....right on that if we're talking $100 it's not that big of a thing to lose the rebate, may just get cash.
It's not that we can't really afford it, I just tend to beat myself up about spending much! The man has taught me well! I still haven't decided though....need to think some more on it.
Keep the thoughts coming though. Well, thoughts other than just giving a bj.

Pay in cash. Don't worry about it. This used to confuse me as well but figured the thought and effort was worth it in the end. Buy him a nice gift. If he's a real man he will appreciate it ven though it was bought with "his" money.
