Posted: 12/28/02 - 22:01 Post subject: spent most of the day in the basement
which isn't quite the same as being in the doghouse, but it could land me there!
problem: 2 packrats live in the same house. She is much worse than I am. I will occasionally go through stuff and toss it. I like it neat, but I'm not good at keeping it that way. She on the other hand, is so much like her mother (don't dare tell her that) that my FIL and I had a conversation today that was wierd. I told him how I had to clean out the basement (make a pathway) so I could have the new dryer delivered on monday. He just looked at me and said "you're not telling me anything new" His advice: toss the stuff without telling her because she'll never miss it.
so while I was cleaning and tossing, I was rehearsing the argument with mrs keltic in my head. and also trying to figure out where I'd spend the night if it came to that! so far so good, but she hasn't been to the basement yet. I still have some more to clean out, but I've had enough for today. BTW, big yard sale here as soon as the weather breaks in spring!

Oh man, I know what that's like. I am a bit of one, and so is my wife.
She has gotten much better, though but it is really tough with all the frickin' toys...

I always packrat the stupidest things so that when I go back and look at them and get ready to throw them away, parting is easy and I often ask myself just what I was thinking when I decided to save a particular item.

Must have been one of weekends to toss stuff. I cleaned up my basement and I discovered that we did have a dining room table under all the stuff that accumulated on there. When I get in those manic cleaning modes, everything gets tossed.
Interestingly I do this about the same time every year, right around Christmas

We must be in the twilight zone. The Mrs told me we need more storage for the kids stuff. I said, no they have to much stuff. They have a closet that is twice as big as I had and a basement. We always had to clean out old stuff before santa came. I guess that served two purposes, man Mom was smart.
I pack stuff away too. I am a piler I make piles of everything thinking I'll get back to it soon. Then when I do I realize the stuff is years old

1! Matt knows the look I get....and then runs upstairs to start shoving stuff in the attic, figuring I won't go up there (pretty smart move since I don't care for heights....hehe)

I'm alive!!! but there's more stuff to toss out. I've got commitments all afternoon, so I can't get there until sometime tonight to continue the plundering of the basement.

Both Chris and myself are packrats also. We need to clean out the attic and our closets and have a yard sale. We need to pack up clothes and donate them to the salvation army to. THe problem is I wear almost all of my clothes. One of these days we will get around to clearing it all out.
