Posted: 10/18/05 - 20:46 Post subject: speaking of everyone on drugs
all I wanted was a pack of sudafed. I'm congested. Sudafed helps. Well, they don't have it out to just buy anymore. I had to get in the busy pharmacy's long line. Then, the pharmacist had to go to the back to get me some. Then she had to put my name in some database. THEN she had to get this "Texas Log of Pseudoephedrine" book out where I had to fill out and sign a form. All for a 24 pack of 30 mg each sudafed. I understand this is in an effort to block meth labs, but geez. I felt guilty taking as much time from the pharmacist as all that did with her line as long as it was, all for just some measly sudafed (although, I feel much better now that I can breathe...) But wouldn't it be easier to just make it a prescription? Isn't there a better way? Is this way really effective? Are they cross referencing if I just bought some at 2 other pharmacies and a grocery store? and further, if I'm not making meth with it, WHO THE HECK CARES IF I DID? Frickin meth users.

Yep. Wave goodbye to your freedom.
I thought it was pretty absurd that you have to be 18 or older to purchase white-out.

That's what I thought when I used to have to ask the pharmacist for "rubbers."

Not surprising. Liquid Paper was invented by the mother of Michael Nesmith of The Monkees:
The probably snorted it before performing.

Items don't become controlled substances until they are abused. Or, maybe I should say, items move into different levels of control based on potential for misuse/abuse.
Cocaine wouldn't be a CII Drug (classes are 1-5) if it wasn't so abused.
Heroin, in the US, is a CI Drug-no medicinal use for it.
Yes, you have to pay the price for all the meth heads in the country. Sudafed will be moving to a prescription sooner or later.
The drug called "ephedrine" in the state of Ohio is already a CIV drug, which is a derivative of Sudafed. Ohio almost made Sudafed a controlled drug about 10 years ago, but backed off the decision. (States can make their own, stricter laws about certain drugs.)
I would rather dole out the Sudafed one by one than have the meth heads scooping up all the cold medicine boxes on the shelves out front.

The law in Oklahoma says you cannot buy more than 1 pack at a time, and I think within a certain # of days.
The database here is cross referenced and it is actually working. Our meth labs are down, but the chances are they are moving to states that don't have these laws. Sorry Ohio

Is there any truth to eating things with poppy seeds that can make drug tests come up positive? I was eating a bagal with poppy seeds once and a friend of mine warned me about doing so.
