My son is working on an what they call an "ABC atlas". For each letter of the alphabet he is to write on a topic that relates to the US (symbols, states, monuments, capitals...). Any thoughts on "z"???? teacher revealed that most of the children are doing the "zipper" as an invention. Any other ideas out there, for something else???
ps: if you want to throw out some ideas on other letters....feel free.
thanks from my son!

I think we have a winner!!!! I was thinking Zagnut, one of our old time favorite retro candies, but other than it being a Hershey product, I haven't found much info on it.
What's he doing for Q and X?? I am betting xylophone and x-ray machine are two biggies there......
I don't know if you've seen this site, sue, but it's got a lot of good general info, state birds and such, for all the states. I found out the quail, California Valley Quail, to be exact, is the CA state bird.....
www.50states.com
I also found out that Green Bay is the Toilet Paper capital of the world...

Hi Sue,
Here are some "z" ideas to toss around:
Zachery Taylor, 12th president of the U.S.
Admiral Zumwalt who was remarkable for his promotion of equal opportunities in the Navy.
This link to the Internet Public Library's kid's corner may help too:
