not so fast. from the Washington Post:
Spurrier, Redskins disagree about his status
By JOSEPH WHITE, AP Sports Writer
December 30, 2003
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Steve Spurrier's stormy tenure with the Washington Redskins took a bizarre turn Tuesday, with the team saying he resigned -- and the coach saying he didn't.
Three days after the Redskins finished 5-11 by losing 10 of their last 12 games, the team announced Spurrier quit.
Soon after, Spurrier told The Washington Post that was wrong.
``I have not resigned,'' Spurrier said, according to the newspaper's Web site. ``I've got a representative looking into some issues, but I have not resigned. If they say that I have, that is not true. I'm not sure it is heading in that direction right now. We are seeing where it goes, but I have not resigned.''

Good, maybe we'll never hear from that cocky SOB again. He may dispute he resigned, but since Spurrier thinks so...I guess he can return to Florida and enjoy an early bird special. Good Riddance, and I don't even like the Redskins. If he would just take that other former Fl. college head coach Butch Davis with him...

I was elated when the Evil Genius left UF. The most satisfying part of watching Spurrier was watching the visor toss.
I just hope he has no plans of returning to Florida, or anywhere else in the SEC.
Can this guy be so unbelievably unhappy that he walked away from $15 million on a contract???
