2 weeks ago in Cincinnati I ran a 25:41 5k the conditions and circumstances were right and I got 2nd place in my age group. I know a lot of that just depends on who shows up at the race.

today's 5k was bigger and had plenty of fast guys so I knew that even if I did my best, there would be no hardware. no biggie.

but here's my question: How did I shave 1:15 off my race time in 2 weeks? after the race in Cinci, I took a week off. May 18-23 I put in 12 miles (which is an increase). so today I come back and do a PR of 24:26. My best 5k time ever was 24:59

thoughts? comments? advice to improve this new PR?

You were well rested and motivated by the energy of faster people.
