What's surprising is that those hashers didn't follow some guidelines set forth, post-9/11. Incidents like this have happened, all over the U.S. Steps have been taken to reduce the occurrences. Shame on those Rochester hashers.
It's the practice of the SCH4 (Sin City Hash House Harriers and Harriettes) to mix colored chalk, sawdust, and some kind of "confetti" with the flour. (Once, Froot Loops were used in the mix.) In addition, whenever the trail leads to a sensitive area, i.e., school, church parking lot, etc., chalk is used to mark the trail. (Actually, we use pieces of drywall.) As an added precaution, the county sheriff's department is alerted to the general area of the run. Not to be overlooked is the local rep for the Dept. of Homeland Security.
Stupid hashers.
(Edit: Stupid Rochester hashers.)
