Posted: 01/14/04 - 13:37 Post subject: so I got hit by an 18 wheeler this morning
On the way to the training site, I'm on the extremely wide onramp to the interestate. A truck was too much into my lane, speeding of course, and clipped the driver's side mirror. Just a little paint scratch, hardly noticeable. The b*stard didn't even stop! I eventually caught up to him/her - they were clearly 2-3 feet off the road, so s/he was definitely too far in my lane. I couldn't get his license plate #, though - it was covered with dirt.
I was shaken when I got to work, but OK. I still can't believe the driver didn't stop. Particularly because it's hard not to spot my big huge Dodge Grand Caravan Sport from view. These drivers here are HORRIBLE!

OMG! Thank goodness you are ok. We just had a pileup the other day, where a rig CRUSHED the car it hit. They say the driver of that car is brain dead. Very sad.
Very glad that you are ok. Shaken is better than stirred anyday.

not many people get hit by something that big, and barely get a little scratch on their vehicle!
You got lucky Kid!

Yes, I was VERY lucky . Since the car's a rental, I reported it to our office manager just in case. Watch that the paperwork aftermath becomes a huge issue, such is my luck.

You're OK and that's what matters.
The truck driver will get his/her comeuppance in due time.

Oh, I don't know. It seems to me your luck is quite good, considering that they could be scraping you off the pavement/car/truck with a spatula.
And yeah, what comes around goes around. He'll get his.

did you get the company name on the truck?? if you have that and the time of the incident and location, most likely the insurance company, and/or rental company can track down the truck.
Stay safe, and remember Safety is no accident
Just a friendly reminder from your RF Safety Professional

Wowza! I am just glad to know you are ok. Things could have been so different had timing/speed been off....
It makes it a good day to know you are ok.
