at least not the select group of young men forming the 2nd Battalion/8th Marine Regiment Golf Company. I got to hang with this fine group of gentlemen at their barracks for a couple of hours wed. evening and with a couple of them here and there Thurs evening and Friday morning.

Black, white, Hispanic - whatever, it didn't matter. They are truly a band of brothers and I was quite impressed when I left Friday afternoon. They are now motoring across the Atlantic towards Spain - a three ship/one sub convoy.

It was truly three days well spent.

God Speed, Good luck and good hunting to your son Rob.

Did he leave out of Morehead City? Took two loads of Marines out of there on USS Iwo Jima back in 89 then in 90. One group to the Med the other to the Persain Gulf.

Which ship?

I'm doing fine. I left the base with nothing but the utmost in respect and confidence in that group. Something I rarely have in most people these days.

USS Kearsarge. He left from LZ Falcon at Camp Lejeune. The ship left Norfolk, headed down the coast and Saturday morning he and several others loaded the final equipment aboard the hovercraft and onto the ship.

LHD's are awsome ships, very capable - much better than the bucket 'o rust LPH I was on. What's you son do? Yes I know every Marine is an infantryman.

The LSD's (Wasp class) are even nicer, and more state of the art
