I am sure the shoplifter did not try stealing for the first time.

I agree. However...just what if? Wow, a true born loser.

Yep, a taser would have made it all so simple.

That's a hoot ShannonG. I'm sure all the criminals abide by all the National Laws, right? On second thought, they wouldn't be called criminals if they abided by the laws in the first place.

I was going for the unbreakable heptuple post but got too bored after seeing that final "timed out" response. You know, PH, if it could be set to, oh, let's say, 15 seconds instead of 30, my record would be in serious jeopardy. And it would seem that the only person capable of breaking my record would be me.

And by announcing the record, you prevented the posts of adulation and congratulation that would no doubt have ensued. Evil or Very Mad

How's a guy going to get noticed for his insane contributions?

MacLean's magazine did a story a few years back on handgun deaths in Canada vs the US. 14 people died in Canada in the year the story was printed. 14 people PER DAY die from gunshot wounds in the States. So no, we're not killing each other with nearly the regularity that you are.

Careful Shannon on quoting statistics

youd population is about 32,207,113 (source CIA world fact book
population of U.S. 290,342,554 (source CIA world fact book)

while our per capita homicide rate is higher with guns
because of the large number of difference in the sample it is statisically difficult to compare the two groups

With 10x the population it would stand to reason that murder rates would be 10x as well, would it not? I'm not a gun control advocate, I'm just stating the facts as they are. Murders still happen here, just not as many by guns as there are in the States. And my point (which I kind of got away from) was a cultural one in that when someone is robbed/held up here you never assume the bad guy has a gun, because they rarely do.

Careful? Hey, you're quoting CIA stats!! And we all know what that can lead to!

I never assume anything when someone is trying to rob me or hurt my property/family.
