Long after Sandy and I thought we had cut everything out of our wedding budget that we possibly could, we found another way. Photography. We thought we had an inexpensive photographer, and compared to everything else we saw, we did. We even liked them.

Last week we got something in the mail from a photographer that we never heard of. We looked at the brochure and saw that the price for the package we wanted was a thousand dollars cheaper than what we had. We made an appointment and hoped we would like this guy.

We loved him! The photography looked nicer than our previous guy, and after we added an extra hour we are looking at $800 worth of savings compared to the previous photographer.

I'm just so excited about this! Money was a bit tight before, and this really, really helps!

Phew.

Congrats!

But, wait until you see the price of the photo album. I have friends who did not get theirs until there 5th anniversary Embarassed I have also been to weddings where they had disposable cameras on every table and the guests were the photographers.

Hang in there, it all will work out.

Hiring a professional is the way to go. Mrs. PH and I had a friend videotape the whole ceremony for us and he ended up getting the flu that day. He was so sick that he couldn't hold the camera still (and he forgot the tripod).

The whole ceremony looks like it was taped by someone on a 3 week binge.

We're gonna buy an album from Target. We probably won't buy many reprints and just use the proofs as our pictures.

We did see one album they have that was just gorgeous. It wasn't the plain, normal black bordered photo album, but was glossier and had graphics and you could fit many more pictures on a page and it was beautiful.

And it was $1300, so we decided not to order one of those (our entire package is running us $760)

We got lucky with our photographer. He was just starting out and wasn't charging much at that point. A little forgetful though. Just as I was heading out to the church that wedding morning, the phone rings and it's him. "I'll see ya next Saturday, right?". "No! It's TODAY!!!!"... close call.

And like PH, our videotaping bit... bad audio. We do have a cassette version from the church of the ceremony. Ideally, I should get the vhs dubbed with the cassette onto a dvd. Anyone heard of a place that does vhs/cassette to dvd?.. I suppose I'll have to go to some sound studio and pay big bucks. Confused

Was it the same guy who taped your 'performance on fire' act?

I've only watched ours because it's funny to watch the camera wobble all over the place. Mr. Green

Too bad you live so far away Pug.

I would do it for the cost of the film and developing....and a little for some inexpensive tripod lights. I have done two weddings, and my pictures were as good as the pro who was there...a lot cheaper (free)...and a whole lot faster. The hard part is the amount of film you have to shoot to get some good pictures, and the group shots after the wedding with the family etc... Everyone wants to get to the reception and party.

I deliver within two days...or I hand you the film and you take it to your local lab.

Speaking of that, Cappy...I have the pictures from the last RR party. I need to get them to you.
