When I was about 8 or 9 we were driving towards Florence Italy and suddenly saw the US Flag around a small cemetery. We stopped and found out it was one of the cemeteries run by the US Cemetery Commission.
I will always remember the rows upon rows of simple white stones, the greeness of the grass and the peacefulness of the place.
The sacrifice of those men who went into harm's way and gave their all must never be forgotten.
