many of us are trying to pick the right marathon to run....rank your experiences.

my best to worst choices

1. Austin Motorola --- absolutely impressed that a race this large is so organized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. California Int'l ---- easy, easy course
3. Green Bay --- best fan, volunteer involvement

***********(there's a reason for a pause here)

4. Grandmas
5. Cowtown
6. San Antono
7 Fox Cities
8 Madison
9 Disney

1. Twin Cities (my fav, great course, spectators, organiz, expo, weather)
2. Napa (scenic, small charm, good getaway)
3. Grandmas (old stompin' grounds, just love Duluth)
4. Gulf Beaches (fast course, hot & humid for northerners, amazin food, great resorts for before/after)

On a ten scale I'd rate the four I've done here, as 10, 9, 8, 7 respectively.

1. Twin Cities (Great crowd support!)
2. Mount Rushmore (smaller but fun, beautiful scenery!)
3. Grandma's (would probably be higher if not in the summer.

Only three that I have ran.

Are we counting marathons that were just for fun?

In that case:
1) Every New Year's Eve Marathon with my training partners. There is nothing like running a marathon and then putting in a full day at work. Smile
2) Chicago (PR set here)
3) Indianapolis

I look forward to expanding this list in the next few months.

1. Boston-every year it is so much fun, course sucks, but the crowds cannot be beat, and being a local boy running the local course is always great.

2. Disney- what do you need to say, it is Disney, also nice to feel fast at a race with the large beginner and first time crowd. Mickey rocks and cannot wait for this year. Nice and flat, fast course.

3. Baystate Marathon, Lowell, MA-my PR course, 3:01, how can you not love the course you did your best at. Was a 2 lap flat course that was well run, but know course and race management has changed and does not seem to be up to snuff.

1. Marine Corps. Great crowds, flat and historic at almost every turn.

2. Austin Motorola. Course if downhill and fast. The course rocked, even if I did not. Besides, since last year and into the forseeable future I will be there to hug you at the finish line.

3. Dallas. Poor crowd support, but super course support. Fairly flat.

1) Marine Corps-large but well organized
2) Philadelphia-Robin was able to see me 3 times plus I knew the whole layout and it was ho9metown
3 and 4) Ocean drive, small (<400 people) but every year it runs into a 10-15 mph headwind. And one long stretch goes from 123rd street to 7th street .
5) Alaska Midnight Sun. Too large a race to start at a high school and have 5000 plus people run on a single lane bike path. I ended up running a mile to the start after being dropped off because there was only 1 way into the starting area which was jammed with people.

would do everyone of these again.

The scenery on all of them was aweseome.
