I'm amazed at how little people know about the voting process. I've heard some of the better questions I thought everyone knew the answers to. Feel free to add to this.

Q: If I'm in line at 8pm and the polls close, can I still vote?
A: Yes. Federal law.

Q: If I've moved where do I go to vote?
A: If you got a new driver's license and re-registered (though this may be just in PA), your new polling place. If not, your old one. You can also go to the old place and use a provisional ballot.

My sister (there isn't a rolleyes big enough to introduce her) didn't change her voter registration from when she lived across the state 3 years ago but, they were able to pull her up and have her vote on the president only and I think change her registration to her 'new' local address going forward, and I don't think it required a provisional, although, that word has more syllables that she's probably capable of remembering anyway. [/no rolleyes big enough] Anyway, my point being I think they are really willing/able to work with you.

Yikes.

I just appreciate the fact that I can register at the polls in Minnesota.

Yikes, indeed. While there are people around the world who'd gladly pay to vote, it is to the United States' shame that not more of its citizens exercise that right. Cheryl's sigline - "Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote. ~George Jean Nathan" - has it only half right. Bad officials are elected by citizens who don't vote. Good citizens always vote. That's what makes them good citizens.

One of my more clueless employees was not aware that today was election day. I'm not kidding.

She's not voting, thankfully.

One of my students asked me today who the President was? She thought we'd already had the election... (or that was her story after the laughter and pointing fingers calmed down)

That's not entirely true. Some how my registration address changed without me doing it. I've lived in sevaeral different appartments from teh time I originally registered. The only thing I can think is that my registration changed when I became a notary. That was the only item I have had involved with the Secretary of State's office. dunno But even with that I've had the address changed to my current one. I don't get it.

Maybe it's just PA, as I intimated.
