I'm subbing for the JH/HS PE teacher today.
There is a girl, in 8th grade, who is...shall we say well-endowed. She is not heavy, in fact she's quite thin.
This is the third time I've subbed for her PE class. Each time she wears a skimpy little wife beater tank top. Different colors each time: white, red, and blue today.
The first time, I'll be honest. I kinda felt bad for her. I thought she forgot her pe shirt and was just wearing her undershirt for PE. But then the second time she had a red one, and today she had a blue one.
If I was her teacher, I would probably tell her to wear something more covering, however, I am not her teacher, just a sub.
So, I'm asking...should I just let this go? I really don't feel comfortable telling an 8th grader to cover her chest. Plus, I'm a sub, not the full time teacher....who evidently lets her dress like this all the time.
I guess it's not that big of a deal, but I was wondering what others thought.

Man I wouldn't say a friggin' thing to anyone about that subject unless you had a female teacher say it, esp. since you are the sub.
Please note that I am not a wimmin and therefore should be ignored in this thread.

Have you thought about asking one of the female PE teachers what they would say/do? Or ask them to talk to her?

Does your school have a dress code? I had a PE uniform that was a huge tshirt and nasty shorts in my school colors. If no, I think you're probably right about the whole being a sub thing and letting it go.

Well, you might want to say something more like :
"Umm, this is awkward, but ___ is wearing just a tank top, which may be inappropriate for PE class.... would you mind dropping by the class and reminding the class of the proper attire for PE?"
or "she dresses like a hasher in heat!"

i could never be a teacher.  i wouldn't feel comfortable dealing with that.
i think j1m's comment is good "might be innapropriate - could you check it out"...
or maybe even just ask "is there a dress code policy for the school?" if yes proceed with "might be innapropriate - could you check it out"... if no - let it go?
you can avoid mentioning, tank top, girl, boobs, unless more detail is necessary... hopefully the principal catches on?

It's a problem all right. I have two male friends who are college professors and they both say that when a female student comes to their offices for office hours, she's often dressed so inappropriately that the professors hardly know where to look.
